Bodily Literacy is on the forefront of the work that Sport Eire does. It pertains to a person’s private relationship with bodily exercise – how they suppose and really feel about it and what they do.
Bodily literacy means having the talents, confidence, and motivation to be energetic for all times.
To assist individuals to think about their private bodily literacy Sport Eire has developed a workshop / webinar and sources, titled Understanding Bodily Literacy (UPL).
The UPL workshop / webinar is being rolled out by Sport Eire and its companions in Native Sports activities Partnerships (LSPs) and Nationwide Governing Our bodies (NGB).
UPL provides every one who attends the chance to ‘dig deeper’ into why they’re energetic/inactive, perceive their boundaries and helps, look at what motivates them, and be on a path of being bodily energetic that fits them.
The advantages of being bodily energetic are many and well-documented, however those that are inactive are unable to reap these advantages.
Nonetheless, by creating their bodily literacy they will discover ‘the change’ that works for them, begin to worth bodily exercise of their lives, develop a love of being energetic and embody it of their lives, daily.
On Could eleventh, Sport Eire delivered coaching to 17 trainee tutors.
This included six individuals from every of 4 NGBs – Pitch & Putt Eire; Group Video games; The Camogie Affiliation; and Irish Athletic Boxing Affiliation. There have been additionally 11 individuals from eight Native Sports activities Partnerships and native sports activities organisations.
The UPL coaching and assist of the trainee tutors is coordinated and delivered by the Sport Eire Teaching unit, particularly Sheelagh Quinn, Declan O’Leary, Ann McMahon, Vicky Man and Michael Joyce.
The UPL workshop, sources and tutor coaching supply was led and supported by Dr Melaine McKee, Senior lecturer in PE and Sport at Stranmillis College Faculty, Belfast.
